Tesla FSD on Turo: What Renters and Hosts Need to Know

Turo, the car-sharing marketplace, now lets renters in the U.S. search for and book Teslas with FSD (Supervised) turned on. The feature went live on October 28, 2026, according to Turo’s announcement. Turo checks each car’s FSD status through a direct link with Tesla’s systems, so a listing that says FSD is active has been verified rather than typed in by the host.

How it works for renters

Hosts connect their Tesla account to Turo, and the car’s FSD (Supervised) status then shows on the listing and in search whenever its subscription is active, per Turo’s host page. That lets you filter for a car that has it, instead of messaging hosts to ask.

  • No FSD add-on fee. Turo says hosts can’t sell FSD (Supervised) as a paid Extra (Turo FAQ). Turo didn’t say whether FSD listings will cost more per day (Electrek).
  • Read up before pickup. Turo encourages guests to review Tesla’s FSD (Supervised) documentation and safety guidelines before the trip (Turo).
  • It can switch off. FSD can become unavailable, for example when a camera is blocked. If that happens, follow the car’s instructions and take over (Turo FAQ).
“Guests are responsible for the vehicle during their trip and for supervising FSD (Supervised) at all times.”Turo, FSD (Supervised) host FAQ

Turo also says a claim on a trip where FSD was used goes through the same process as any other Turo trip. FSD (Supervised) does not make a Tesla autonomous: the driver must stay attentive and be ready to take over at any time.

Before you drive off in a rented Tesla

  1. Ask the host to show you how to turn FSD (Supervised) on. Turo suggests hosts send guests Tesla’s FSD support resources before pickup (Turo).
  2. If you’ve never driven a Tesla, take a few minutes in a parking lot first to get used to the screen, the wipers and one-pedal braking.
  3. Check which protection plan your booking has, since you are responsible for the car during the trip.
  4. Keep your hands ready and your eyes on the road the whole time FSD is engaged.

What hosts get

Starting November 16, eligible U.S. hosts can get a free one-month FSD (Supervised) subscription. Turo says to allow up to a week after linking accounts for it to switch on. These are the conditions on Turo’s host page:

RequirementWhat Turo says
HardwareThe listed Tesla must have eligible AI4 hardware
OwnershipYou must own the car; leased Teslas don’t qualify
ListingA listed or snoozed Tesla in the U.S., with your Tesla account linked on Turo
Hosting historyAt least one completed trip as a Turo host
Current subscriptionNo active FSD subscription when the trial is added; paid subscribers as of Oct. 26 aren’t eligible

After the free month, FSD (Supervised) is Tesla’s regular $99-a-month subscription (Electrek). Linking accounts also lets Turo and Tesla share your VIN, charging information and other vehicle and trip data, according to the terms on Turo’s host page.

Turo announced the launch on X:

What it means if you’re shopping

Turo says the Model 3 and Model Y are the third and fourth most popular models on its platform so far this year (Turo). A rental with FSD gives a shopper a few days on their own roads with the feature, which is longer than a typical test drive. Owners who already have a Tesla can also get a free month through Tesla’s new FSD referral program, if they meet its terms.
