Class 8 electric truck · Deliveries start in 2026
Tesla Semi. Built to haul.
Tesla’s electric semi truck is built for fleets: long range with a full load, charging measured in megawatts and far less to maintain than a diesel. Here is what Tesla’s own page says, figure by figure, and how a fleet gets one.
At a glance
The numbers on Tesla’s page.
325 mi for the Standard Range. Fully loaded, on one charge.
Tesla’s simulation at 82,000 lb and 55 mph.
On a Megacharger, Tesla’s truck charger.
Megacharger, Long Range.
Tesla’s estimates, from its own simulations; the test conditions are with the spec sheet. Checked Oct 16, 2026; nothing here has been independently tested.
Running costs
Cheaper to run than diesel, Tesla says.
With low maintenance, cheaper energy and local incentives, Tesla says owning a Semi can cost less over time than a comparable diesel truck. It publishes no price or cost-per-mile figure, so ask for one with your own routes.
- 01
Electricity over diesel
Charging typically costs less than refuelling with diesel, Tesla says, and still delivers plenty of range.
- 02
Less to maintain
No diesel engine, no transmission and no exhaust system, so far fewer moving parts to service.
- 03
Incentives and finance
Depending on where the fleet runs, local incentives may apply. Tesla offers leasing and financing.
Charging
Megacharger.
Up to 1.2 MW, enough to add up to 60% of a Long Range Semi’s range in 30 minutes, about the length of a driver’s break.
- 01
A public Megacharger network, still growing, puts chargers where drivers stop for breaks and pit stops.
- 02
Trip Planner adds charging stops to a route on its own.
- 03
Businesses can buy Megachargers for their own depots.
On the road
It drives like a Tesla.
- 01
An aerodynamic body shaped for range and efficiency.
- 02
3 electric motors and up to 800 kW, with instant torque and no gears to shift.
- 03
Independent front suspension to cut road vibration for a smoother ride.
- 04
Tesla says driving it feels like driving any other Tesla.
Fleet

How to read it
The two versions differ in range and curb weight; everything else on Tesla’s sheet is the same. Tesla shows the same charging figure for both, and its footnote says that figure is the Long Range’s.
Tesla’s estimates, from its own simulations: 82,000 lb gross combination weight, 55 mph, 20 °C, flat ground, with the tandem-axle aero kit and a CARB-compliant dry van trailer. Tesla says tires, roof fairing and trailer setup change consumption a great deal.
Ordering
How fleets get one.
There is no configurator and no public price. Fleets fill in the contact form on Tesla’s Semi page, and Tesla follows up.
What the form asks for
- 01
Company and address
- 02
Trim preference: Standard Range or Long Range
- 03
Current Class 8 fleet size
- 04
A description of your operations
Not in our calculators
The Semi is a commercial truck without a published price, so GetTesla’s cost, savings and range calculators don’t include it, and our referral link doesn’t apply. Leasing, financing and incentives come through Tesla.

FAQ
Semi questions.
How much does the Tesla Semi cost?
Tesla’s Semi page does not list a price. Fleets contact Tesla through the form on that page for a quote, and Tesla says leasing, financing and, depending on where you operate, local incentives are available.
When can you get a Tesla Semi?
Tesla’s page says deliveries start in 2026. Orders go through Tesla’s contact form, which asks for your company, trim preference, current Class 8 fleet size and a description of your operations.
How far can the Semi go on a charge?
Tesla estimates 325 miles for the Standard Range and 500 miles for the Long Range, with a fully loaded trailer at 82,000 lb gross combination weight, 55 mph and 20 °C on flat ground. Tesla notes that tires, roof fairing and trailer setup change consumption a great deal, so real routes will vary.
How fast does the Semi charge?
On a Megacharger, Tesla’s ultra-fast truck charger of up to 1.2 MW, Tesla says the Semi adds up to 60% of its range in 30 minutes (its footnote says the figure is for the Long Range). Tesla is building a public Megacharger network, its Trip Planner adds charging stops to a route, and businesses can buy Megachargers for their own depots.
Can I buy a Semi for personal use?
Tesla sells the Semi as a Class 8 fleet truck: its contact form asks for a company, a fleet size and a description of operations, and there is no consumer configurator. GetTesla’s calculators and referral link don’t cover it.
What is ePTO on the Semi?
Electric power take-off: power from the truck’s battery for equipment on the trailer or body, such as a refrigeration unit, instead of a separate engine. Tesla rates the Semi’s at up to 25 kW.
