Tesla's Robotaxi account posted a batch of service and rider-feature updates early on October 30, 2026 (12:49 AM ET). The headline change is longer service hours.
Longer hours
The post says: "Operating hours are now 6am - 2am." Tesla's post does not say which cities the new hours apply to, so check the Robotaxi app for your area. Ashok Elluswamy, who leads Tesla's AI and Autopilot work, replied: "Until bar closing time now!"
For comparison, we reported in August that the service ran 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. across six cities. Tesla's new post does not restate the earlier hours or the city list.
New rider features
Tesla's post lists these changes, in its words:
- "Rear view camera feed now available to view during your ride"
- "Calm Mode dims the screen & sets cabin lighting to a relaxing state"
- "Grok now available on our Model Y vehicles"
- Trip details can be shared with a friend
- A new Live Activity design
- An improved vehicle-locating arrow in the app, plus haptic feedback to help find the vehicle
- Music Control via Screen Reader
The post says Grok is available on the Robotaxi Model Y vehicles. It does not say anything about customer-owned cars. If you own a Tesla, Grok in your own car is covered in our write-up of software update 2026.38.6.
What it means for you
These are changes to Tesla's Robotaxi ride-hailing service, not to the software in cars owners drive. If you ride, later hours and trip sharing are the changes you are most likely to use. For background on how the service works, see our Cybercab and Robotaxi hub.
This post reports only what Tesla's Robotaxi account and Elluswamy said, as of 6:55 AM ET on October 30. We have not independently confirmed the rollout by city.
