If you ordered a Model Y L Launch Series, or you’re weighing one now, here’s where things stand as of September 1, 2026: what the trim includes, what it costs, and how firm the delivery date really is.
Price and what’s bundled in
The Launch Series is a Premium AWD trim priced at $61,990, before destination and order fees. That price bundles a year each of FSD (Supervised), Supercharging, and Premium Connectivity, plus your choice of any paint color, interior color, and wheel option at no extra charge — normally options you’d pay for. It also comes with a tow hitch included, which is usually a $1,000 add-on on other trims.
The trim carries Launch Series–only touches you won’t find on a standard Model Y L later: exclusive rear badging, floor mats, puddle lights, suede dashboard inserts, and door sill plates.
When deliveries actually start
Tesla’s order page listed an October–November 2026 delivery window as of mid-July. Since then, the timeline has moved earlier. In mid-August, the first estimated delivery dates began appearing on customer accounts, with windows ranging from as early as August 29–September 26 up to October 7–November 18, depending on when the order was placed.
As of late August, Tesla had begun Model Y L test drives at select US showrooms, rolling out location by location, and delivery timing is tracking ahead of that original October window — with the first vehicles expected to reach customers before the end of September, and possibly mid-September for some early orders.
None of that means your own car will show up on a specific day. Estimated delivery windows on Tesla’s site are known to shift, sometimes by weeks, as production ramps at Giga Texas and logistics catch up. Treat the window in your account as a moving target, not a promise, and check it periodically rather than planning around a single date.
If you’re still deciding
Demand has been strong enough that Launch Series inventory is thinning out: new orders placed in early August were already being quoted November–December 2026 delivery, and Tesla has described the trim as nearly sold out for the year. If price is a bigger factor than getting the exclusive trim, know that more affordable Model Y L configurations are expected to follow later, so the Launch Series is really for buyers who want the bundled software and the exclusive trim details now, not just the largest Model Y.
For now, the most useful thing you can do is watch the delivery window in your Tesla account, keep your financing and trade-in paperwork ready, and expect that window to move before it firms up.
