Tesla’s Halloween Mode: what the 2026.38.3 update adds, and which cars get it

Tesla added Halloween Mode in software update 2026.38.3, and it only works fully on cars with AMD-powered infotainment. Turning on its Trick or Treat feature also switches off Sentry Mode.

What it adds

Not a Tesla App reported on October 6 that Halloween Mode arrives with update 2026.38.3 and that Tesla’s own announcement described the car as “a haunted house on wheels.” The release notes suggest it may stay in the Toybox after October, as Santa Mode does.

Which cars get it

Not a Tesla App says Halloween Mode is confirmed for vehicles with AMD-powered infotainment. It says Intel-based cars do not support the new mode, and that the fullscreen parked scene and Photobooth features need AMD Ryzen graphics. Custom wraps and lock sounds already work on Intel cars.

The update was rolling out in waves at the time of that report, at 0.3% of the fleet, so your car may not have it yet.

The Sentry Mode trade-off

The same report says enabling Trick or Treat disables Sentry Mode, the security alarm and walk-away lock while it is on. If you park somewhere you would normally want Sentry Mode, turn Trick or Treat off first.

Tesla’s official channel shows the feature in a video posted October 7, 2026:

This video is Tesla’s own demo of the feature. For which cars get it and what changes in Sentry Mode, rely on the linked report above.
