Not every Electrify America charger needs an adapter anymore

A small but growing number of Electrify America stations now have native NACS plugs, meaning a Tesla can charge there without an adapter at all. Most of the network still requires one, so it pays to know which stations have actually converted.

Where the native plugs exist today

Electrify America’s own NACS/J3400 pilot page lists Waterford Commons, Connecticut, and The Florida Mall in Orlando, Florida, as live pilot sites. In July 2026, the company said it would add NACS connectors alongside the existing CCS1 plugs at five large California hubs, including San Francisco, Santa Clara, San Diego, Santa Monica, and Santa Barbara, by converting a portion of the CCS1 stalls at each location while keeping CCS1 available too.

A handful of sites are going all-NACS

Beyond those mixed-plug hubs, four California locations, in La Mirada, Arcadia, Santa Ana, and Diamond Bar, are slated to become the network’s first all-NACS sites, with some New Jersey and Pennsylvania stations getting partial conversions as well. Electrify America currently runs more than 1,000 stations with roughly 5,000 DC fast-charging stalls nationwide, so these converted sites are still a small fraction of the network. The company first promised network-wide NACS access by 2025, a timeline it has since missed, so don’t assume a nearby station has converted just because the network overall is moving that way, check the station listing or app first.

What this means at the plug

At a converted stall, a Tesla can plug in directly with no adapter. Everywhere else on the network, you’ll still need a CCS1-to-NACS adapter, and Tesla’s own Superchargers remain the more reliable default for long trips in the meantime.

Kim Java, a channel focused on real-world Tesla ownership, posted a video on September 30, 2026, about her own charging routine using Electrify America.

Her video reflects one owner’s experience at the stations she visited; the rollout details and station list above come from Electrify America and the reporting linked.
