As of 3:15 PM ET on November 5, 2026, the @TeslaCharging account on X listed a new Supercharger operated by EVgo in Chicago. The post reads: "New EVgo Supercharger: Chicago, IL - South Ashland Avenue (12 stalls)."
What is confirmed
- The site is on South Ashland Avenue in Chicago.
- It has 12 stalls.
- Tesla's charging account called it an "EVgo Supercharger."
The post gives no opening date, pricing, charging speed or exact address. Those details are not confirmed here, so check the site in the Tesla app or the car's navigation before you plan a stop.
How EVgo's Superchargers work
EVgo is part of Tesla's Supercharger for Business program. According to Not a Tesla App's August 5 report, EVgo buys the hardware through the program, brands the chargers and keeps the charging revenue, while Tesla handles system management and maintenance. The same report says the sites will use V4 stalls with Magic Dock, so both NACS and CCS vehicles can plug in, and that the sites will appear in Tesla's in-car navigation and Trip Planner.
That report also said first sites were expected to open in the second half of 2026. We covered what the deal means for road trips in EVgo is adding Superchargers to its network.
What it means for owners
A third-party company is now listed as the operator of a Supercharger in a major city. Tesla owners should expect the car to show it like any other Supercharger, but pricing is set by the operator and may differ from nearby Tesla-run sites. Check the price on the charger's listing before you plug in.
Non-Tesla drivers can already use many Superchargers, as covered in Non-Tesla EVs can charge at most Superchargers now.
What to do
- Open the Supercharger map in the Tesla app and look for the Ashland Avenue site.
- Check the listed price per kWh and the number of open stalls.
- Estimate what a session costs with the charging calculator.
Tesla's charging account also listed a new four-stall site in Basildon, UK on the same day. This post will be updated in the admin if EVgo or Tesla confirm more details.
