The new Tesla Roadster is going on public display in Los Angeles. The Petersen Automotive Museum lists the 2028 Tesla Roadster Thrust Prototype in its main lobby from Saturday, October 24, 2026, through Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
What the museum says
- Dates: Saturday, October 24 through Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
- Where: The museum's main lobby. The listing credits the car to the Collection of Tesla Motors.
- What it is: The Roadster Thrust Prototype, shown by Tesla at its Roadster unveiling in McGregor, Texas.
What the museum says about the car
The Petersen listing says Tesla called the Roadster its "last best driver's car." It says the car uses active aero and a fan-driven suction system to produce downforce, even when inverted and stationary. It adds that the Roadster Rocket variant has cold-gas thrusters that let it "fly," and that the Roadster Thrust reached a 0-60 mph time under one second at the unveiling.
These are Tesla's claims as relayed by the museum. They are not independently tested figures, and the display is of a prototype, not a car you can order.
Before you go
The museum's website shows general admission prices that include access to all galleries and exhibitions: $52 for adults 18 and over, $45 for seniors 62 and over, $42 for ages 12 to 17 and $25 for ages 4 to 11, each listed with the Vault. The same page also says "Tickets from $12," so the numbers don't line up. Check the Petersen website for current ticket options and hours before you travel. The page does not say whether the display needs a separate reservation.
As of 8:50 PM ET on October 23, the listing gives no price or order date for the Roadster. For what Tesla has said about versions and deposits, see our Roadster unveiling recap.
