The 2027 Tesla Model Y L starts at $61,990 before destination, about $12,000 more than a standard Model Y Long Range AWD, for a six-seat, three-row layout Tesla built specifically for U.S. buyers who outgrew the regular Model Y, according to Tesla’s July 2026 launch pricing.
What the extra length buys
The Model Y L adds 7 inches of overall length and 6 inches to its wheelbase over the standard Model Y, all of it going toward a proper third row and a 2+2+2 seating layout with second-row captain’s chairs. Third-row legroom comes in at 31.2 inches, 4.7 inches more than the standard Model Y’s optional third row, per Motor1’s breakdown of the Model Y L’s dimensions.
What else comes with the upgrade
Beyond the extra seat, the Launch Series trim adds heated and ventilated second-row captain’s chairs with powered armrests, a powered third row, an 18-speaker audio system, seven USB-C ports, 12 months of Full Self-Driving (Supervised), and vehicle-to-load power output, all standard at the $61,990 starting price.
